A Nice Day Out with writers - NOW SOLD OUT

The story of a place is told through the writing about it… and this is a unique opportunity to learn more about Perth and WA.

Join us for an engaging day themed by stories and books, with Travel Editor and award winning novelist Stephen Scourfield and Writing WA chief executive Will Yeoman.

Stephen and Will have handmade a day in a comfortable coach, with morning tea, picnic lunch and afternoon tea included. They will share stories and read excerpts from books. On the road, and at each coach stop, the story of WA, and the places we visit, will unfold.

Another interesting part of the day will be “writing-real-time” moments, when you will see writers at work and immediately hear their words — how they write about the places we visit. 

We will drive to Guildford, touch the Swan Valley, and continue to the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre in Greenmount. We will have our picnic lunch at Lake Leschenaultia and return to Guildford before coming back to our starting point at Crown Perth.

For the urban scene to the river, to the forest and inland, there will be the sense of a story unfolding throughout the day. There will be guidance on classic, must-do WA reading, and a useful list to take home. 

And there will be plenty of surprises along the way, as Stephen and Will aim to include surprise guests in our day.
