Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre's new multi-disciplinary exhibition Its Always Been Always is a tribute to Blak women, celebrating their powerful connections to Country, Community, and Culture.
Curated by Whadjuk, Ballardong, and Wilman Noongar artist and curator Zali Morgan, It's Always Been Always brings together works by six acclaimed Aboriginal female artists from across Australia. Featuring newly commissioned and existing works by Wendy Hubert (Yindjibarndi – Juluwarlu Art Group), Harriette Bryant (Pitjantjatjara – Mimili Maku Arts), Kaylene Whiskey (Yankunytjatjara – Iwantja Arts), Jazz Money (Wiradjuri and Irish), Yabini Kickett (Bibulmun/Noongar), and Amanda Bell (Badimia and Yued Noongar).
This exhibition seeks to amplify the vital roles of Aboriginal women as custodians, connectors, and community leaders. Through their art, these women share stories of resilience, kinship, and the unique ways they sustain and nurture their relationships with land, family, and identity.
